Africa Nazarene University (ANU) has been crowned the winner of the 2025 Annual Supreme Court Moot Court Competition, a prestigious initiative dedicated to nurturing young legal minds and strengthening the future of Kenya’s legal profession. ANU clinched the top position after an intense final round held at the Supreme Court in Nairobi. This year’s competition drew 16 law schools from across the country, each showcasing rigorous research, compelling arguments, and strong advocacy skills. In the final ranking, Kabarak University emerged as the first runner-up, followed by the University of Nairobi in third place. Presiding over the finals was an eminent bench comprising Chief Justice Martha Koome, Supreme Court Justices Isaac Lenaola and William Ouko, alongside international judges Katelijne Declerck (Belgium), Catherine Koutsopoulou (Greece), and Maria Torres (Philippines). Their participation underscored the judiciary’s commitment to global legal exchange and comparative jurisprudence, particularly in areas such as refugee protection, technology, and human rights. ANU’s outstanding performance was led by the exceptional trio of Cyrus Kariuki, Nereah Akinyi, and James Kenyakisa, whose dedication, mastery of legal principles, and persuasive advocacy earned high praise from the judges. Their achievement not only brings honour to the university but also reflects ANU’s commitment to producing principled, skilled, and forward-thinking legal professionals.
