Dr. Stanley Makhosi Bhebhe

Reappointment of Dr. Stanley Makhosi Bhebhe as the Vice Chancellor of Africa Nazarene University

The University Council of Africa Nazarene University (ANU) is delighted to announce that Dr. Stanley Makhosi Bhebhe has been reappointed as the University’s Vice-Chancellor to a second term effective 1st October 2022. As reported by the Chair of the Council, Dr. Gabriel Benjiman, “the University council’s review panel was impressed with Dr. Bhebhe’s commitment to continuing development of the University’s strategic objectives and our values of transformation of society and the whole person in character, competencies and our physical and spiritual communities. Dr. Bhebhe has also demonstrated an unwavering and outstanding commitment to the development of the learning community and the frameworks of policy and administration while continuing our efforts for the University to be recognised as a place of rigorous and innovative learning”. Prior to his appointment in 2017 as Vice Chancellor of Africa Nazarene University, Dr. Bhebhe served as Director of the Independent Development Trust in South Africa. Dr. Bhebhe was the Program Director and Senior Lecturer for the Community Development Program in the School of Adult Learning and Community Development at the University of Kwa Zulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa. His rich leadership and academic experience includes a Lectureship in the Faculty of Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa; serving as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Professorof Religion and Contemporary Social Thought at the Nazarene Theological College in Johannesburg, South Africa; Adjunct Professor in African Traditional Religions at Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA; Adjunct Professor of Sociology at the County College of Morris in Randolph, New Jersey as well as serving as a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey in USA. Prior to that he served as Chair of the College of Ministry, at the Christian College of Southern Africa in Harare, Zimbabwe. Dr. Bhebhe has also served as a visiting lecturer and adjunct facilitator for Masters and Doctoral programs in the School of Religion and Ministry, Africa Nazarene University since 1995. In terms of Corporate and Leadership experience, Dr. Bhebhe previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the World Vision, South Africa, an International Relief and Development Agency where he also served as the Chief Operations Officer. He has also been a non-executive board member for non-profit organizations, including serving as one of the non-clergy board members representing Africa on the Global Board of the Church of the Nazarene. Dr. Bhebhe is a Denman Fellow, having received the Denman Dissertation Fellowship from Drew University. He is also a member of Who’s Who among students in AmericanUniversities. He was also listed on Who’s Who in Southern Africa in 1996. Dr. Bhebhe is the recipient of the distinguished Alumni Award for Academic and Professional Achievement from the Christian College of Southern Africa in Harare, Zimbabwe where he graduated with a Diploma in Mass Communication and Biblical Studies. Stanley Makhosi Bhebhe holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Religion and Society (with a focus on Cultural Anthropology) from Drew University; a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) with majors in Anthropology of Religion and Social Ethics from Drew University; a Master of Arts (M. A.) in African Religions with a minor in the History of Christianity in Africa from the University of Zimbabwe; a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) in Theology and Ethics from the Reformed Theological College of Australia and New Zealand; a Licentiate in Theology (B.A. Theology equivalent) from the Evangelical Seminary in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa; and a Diploma in Mass Communication from the Christian College of Harare, Zimbabwe. He has a number of Professional Development certificates in Management, Change Management, Labour Relations, Leadership, Project Management, Urban Infrastructure Design and Management and Corporate Governance. The University Council as well as the Nazarene Higher Education and Clergy Development office – Africa Region, offers our warmest congratulations to Dr. Bhebhe on his reappointment. COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES

School Health Education and Promotion activities Various Schools visited ANU and participated in educational sessions on personal hygiene, sex & sexuality and reproductive health. The sessions were facilitated by the ANU Health Services team and ANU student peer counsellors. Participating schools were Olekasasi Secondary school, Oloosirkon primary school and Nakeel boys’ secondary school. ANU Health Services conducted blood donation drives towards the Kajiado County Blood Bank Blood donation drive ANU Health and Wellness Week 25th to 27th October 2022 The ANU student community participated in a cleanup exercise on the Mbagathi River on 22nd March 2022, during which loads of waste were retrieved from the riverbank and properly disposed of in a designated dumping site. Mbagathi River Cleanup Members of the Wildlife and Environmental Club of Africa Nazarene University (WECANU) were at hand at Corner Baridi, Ngong Hills Forest for a tree-growing exercise led by the Environment and Forestry Cabinet Secretary on 21st March 2022 to commemorate International Day of Forests, the theme of the year being ‘Forests for Sustainable Production and Consumption!’ 1000+ trees were planted. Ngong Hills tree planting with CS Tobiko, Miss Environment ANU Various alumni of ANU now working with Nazarene Youth International and stationed at different locations across Africa spent a week back at ANU in March 2022 as part of an exciting program of activities that included (1) connecting with old and new friends (2) progressing collaborative efforts between ANU and the Nazarene Youth International towards the mutual goal of serving Africa’s youth and providing mentorship support to current students among others Nazarene Youth International visit to ANU Feb 2022
