Pre-University Programme (PUP)

The Pre-University Programme (PUP) is a one year academic program designed for high school leavers who have narrowly missed qualifying for admission to undergraduate degree programs. It is intended to help students develop the skills, knowledge, understandings and attitudes required for tertiary education.

Application Process

The Pre-University Program is open only to those students who have completed their secondary school education but narrowly failed to meet the entrance requirements for the University.
The following should be sent to the Registrar’s office for admission consideration:

  • Completed application forms
  • Photostat copies of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) with a minimum of C or its equivalent from other countries.
  • Recommendation forms duly completed by three referees; a church leader, a former teacher, and a family friend.
  • A non-refundable application fee of Kshs. 1,500/= or US$ 35 for applicants outside Kenya.

Academic Policies

Each unit meets three hours a week, totaling forty-two hours of tuition for the trimester. Each unit is inclusive and includes a three-hour examination. The end-of-trimester examination counts 60% of the final mark, with CATs making up the other 40%.

University Level Admission

Successful completion of the Pre-University Program indicates a preparedness to begin tertiary education.
Preference for admission to Africa Nazarene University’s bachelor-level programs will be given to those who: Attain a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 (B-)

Receive a favorable recommendation from the faculty and staff as to the seriousness of purpose, character, spiritual growth and commitment, and academic potential.
