Spiritual Development

The Department of Spiritual Life Development is dedicated to creating and maintaining a vibrant Christian ethos within the ANU community.  This involves the spiritual welfare of all students as well as the faculty, staff, and administration.  This endeavor is attempted through twice weekly campus chapel services, University Church which holds Sunday morning Bible studies and worship services, and a student-led Christian organisation: Christian Union, in which other smaller groups are run, namely:

  1. Praise and Worship team which leads the ANU community in music as a form of worship during the chapel worship services.

  2. Wednesday Bible study in which the students study the Bible together so as to grow together in their spiritual lives

  3. Salvation Voice: This is a Sunday evening service which is run and led by the students. This is intended to reach their peers on campus and win them to Christ.

  4. Small Discipleship groups: These are formed informally and on a voluntary basis as per individual spiritual needs. They are mostly led by students but also by staff. The Spiritual Development office guides the leaders and provides resource materials.

  5. Purpose Driven Brothers/Sisters: These are gender-based. The students discuss issues that affect them as men/women using the Bible as their guide.

  6. Evangelism teams: These visit high schools to share their faith, encourage, and mentor their younger brothers and sisters. This is in keeping with the university's core value of community.

All these organisations have their support from the Spiritual Development office.
