Religion Department: Message from the Chair

Dr. Daryll G. Stanton, Ed. D.
Chair, Department of Religion

Welcome to the webpage of the Department of Religion at Africa Nazarene University.  ANU's Department of Religion is an exciting place of learning, research, and preparation for ministry and service to God and humanity.  Because we normally have students from 15 to 20 different nations, even some outside of Africa, students get a truly international education in the Department of Religion.  With a Master of Arts in Religion, Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries,  along with other certificate and diploma programmes of study, we have a wide range of study options that will prepare our graduates for a variety of careers. We have recently added new Community Development programmes.

Like the university as a whole, we are grounded theologically in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. The mission of the Department of Religion is to impact African society with biblical holiness through excellent theological education and character formation. It is our vision to see our graduates shaping communities to reflect Christ-like values through holy lifestyles. And, we are accomplishing this mission and this vision! Graduates from the department are making a difference in the church and society, many serving in high profile areas of ministry and service throughout Africa and other parts of the world.

Our faculty members are also active in several professional organizations that include Wesleyan Theological Society (WTS), Africa Society of Evangelical Theology (ASET), Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), Church of the Nazarene Africa Region Think Tank. Religion faculty have published in these and other international journals.

We could go on an on "bragging" about our department, but instead please find out for yourself by exploring this website. Bottom line: if you are looking for a place to prepare yourself as a servant-leader, a pastor, a scholar or for another ministry that will make a difference in our world, the Department of Religion at ANU is the place for you.

Welcome!
