Professional Experience:

Dr. Morris Kiwinda Mbondenyi joined the Africa Nazarene University in June 2010 as the Chair of the Law department. Prior to that, he was a Fellow at the University of the Witwatersrand Law School in Johannesburg South Africa. Dr. Mbondenyi has professional experience in research, teaching/training and consulting in public international law and human rights. He has consulted with, researched and worked for a number of organisations both in and out of Kenya. He has made substantial contribution in his field of specialisation through his numerous publications and presentation of academic papers in both national and international conferences. Dr. Mbondenyi is also a member of several professional organisations and networks. 

Research and Teaching Interests:

Dr. Mbondenyi has a particular interest in the African human rights system, a thematic area that defined his LLD thesis. His present research is centred on the broader theme: “International Criminal Justice Accountability Mechanisms and Impunity in Africa”. His other areas of teaching and research interests include Public international law; Fundamental rights litigation; International human rights and humanitarian law; International criminal law; Constitutional law; and Law, Justice and development in Africa.
