Finance Department: Financial Resources and Assistance

Work-Study Program

A limited number of work-study jobs are available each semester. The programme is primarily created to help students with financial need. Earnings from work-study are credited to the student’s account. Work-study assignments are at the discretion of the University and students are not assured of obtaining or retaining a job while on campus. Most work-study assignments are made at the beginning of the school year. Details on work-study program are obtained from the Finance Office.

Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)

Africa Nazarene University is among the private Universities in Kenya whose students are eligible for loans from HELB. Students pursuing undergraduate programs who are Kenya citizens qualify to apply. Application forms are obtainable from the Dean of Student’s office. Visit the HELB website.

Government Bursaries and Scholarship

ANU students are eligible to apply for government bursaries and scholarships. Information on these bursaries and scholarships are obtainable from Ministry of Education.

Institutionally Funded Scholarship

The University is working on developing endowments and scholarships to benefit needy students as well as students who perform well in academics.

Apart from the aforementioned modes of financial assistance, the following tuition fee assistance plans have been initiated by the University to support students at Africa Nazarene University.

Referral Tuition Discount

A student registered at ANU who introduces a student to any of the programmes offered by the University will be given referral tuition discount as follows:

  •  Referral to degree program: Kshs. 5,000 payable once per student introduced
  • Referral to Pre-University Program: Kshs. 1,000 payable once per student introduced.

The student introduced must register and pay fees for the discount to be applicable. The referral discount is applied to student fees. Referral forms are available in the admissions' office.

Siblings Tuition Discount

A Siblings tuition discount of 10% will be awarded to a registered student with a registered sibling at the University. A scholarship committee will consider cases of other sponsors with more than one student at ANU on a case by-case basis.
The applicant and the sibling must produce birth certificates. The siblings discount is applied to student fees. Siblings discount forms are available in the admissions' office.

Partial Tuition Scholarship

The University will offer 10 partial tuition scholarships every Trimester to students being admitted with KCSE Mean Grade of A or A- or equivalent and 20-30 partial tuition scholarship for applicants admitted with KCSE Mean Grade of B+ or Equivalent. The terms are as follows:

  • KCSE Mean Grade of A or A- or Equivalent: 50% discount on tuition fees per trimester
  • KCSE Mean Grade of B+ or Equivalent: 30% discount on tuition fees per trimester

The students would retain their scholarships as long as they maintain a GPA of 3.0 and adhere to the University code of conduct. Partial tuition scholarship is applied to student fees. Application forms are available in the admissions' office.
