Computer Information Systems: ICT Resources

The ICT department aims at supporting the entire ANU community pursue their causes by availing relevant resources. The resources include: Computer labs and Network Resources.

Computer Labs

The CIS Computing Labs are available to all members of the ANU community. There are five computer labs and priority for lab use is given to booked courses and assignments requiring use of specialized lab software, but the machines are otherwise available for such general uses as word processing, data analysis, and email. The labs are open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m daily with support staff available in case a problem arises. All of the labs require the use of User identification and personal passwords.

Network Resources

With an endeavor to support the students to effectively perform, the department tries to maximize on the meagre resources through the laid down network resources. Within our network all students are granted student accounts that enable them to save their projects, research documents and other important study materials. These accounts are only accessible to students with proper authentication.

In addition to that, the department is also supporting the teaching staff by availing space in our servers for the teaching staff to post in teaching materials that are accessible to students and other network users at large. In order to support students to do their research effectively the department has made Internet access possible to all the users within the network.

Wireless Network Access

The department has set aside provision for users with laptops to be able to access the university's network. All users are required to ensure that their machines are properly configured in order to access the university's network. As the university grows the department is planning to expand the wireless network infrastructure to accommodate the growth, by installing various access points with in the university.
