Bookshop

The Africa Nazarene University Bookshop is situated in the Grace Roles Library building and it is managed by four employees.

Our Clientele

The bookshop provides services to the ANU community. Other clients include neighbouring Universities and colleges and visitors to ANU.

Our Products and Services

The bookshop carries a wide variety of textbooks, stationary and gift items for sale. Students use their textbook fees to purchase the required books. This idea of having our students buy from the textbook fee has been a success and encourages students to have their own books. ANU branded items like t-shirts, denim shirts, African wear, curios, and other gifts are available here. The shop also sells stationary, cell phone airtime etc.

Our Operating Hours:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday
8:00 AM To 4:30 PM

Tuesday and Thursday
8:00 AM To 9:30 AM
11:45 AM To 4:30 PM

We can also open on weekends on request or when need arises.

Clinic

The University operates a clinic, which mainly serves the Students and Staff of ANU. The clinic opens on weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but there is a clinical officer assigned and available 24-hrs for emergency cases.
The facility is manned by qualified trained medical personnel. Services offered are mainly outpatient and include:

  • Medical consultation and treatment
  • Laboratory Services
  • Ambulance for referral emergencies
  • Dispensing pharmacy

Catering

The catering department is divided into two departments; the Main Kitchen and the Karibu Café.

Main Kitchen

Main KitchenThis is the area where we prepare food for students (boarding and day scholars) the kitchen is divided into four areas; butchery, entrementiér for vegetable preparation, saucier for meat preparation and we also have a section for preparing starches.
We have a cyclic menu, which means we have seven different types of menu, which rotate on weekly basis, and they are usually changed from time to time as need be. Depending on the availability of funds, we do honor foreign students by introducing some of their ethnic dishes into our menu program.
We do also deal with special functions such as outside catering and preparing packed lunches for students going for games, student parties’ etc.

Karibu Café

This is where members of staff as well as day scholars purchase their snacks. It is a small kitchen in size but produces mouth-watering snacks which are made by professional chefs. The café hosts the V.I.P. functions, boardroom meetings and graduation lunches at ANU.
The Karibu Café’ also has cyclic menus and their mode of service is a la Carte i.e. the food is prepared as and when needed in individual portions. Here food is paid for directly i.e. cash on carry unlike in main kitchen where food is paid for in advance.

In both kitchens food is ordered for from the central stores on specific days of the week.

Boarding

There are a number of halls of residence to cater for boarding students. These include; Zanner Hall, Cashman Hall, Harmons Hall (Left Wing), Crawford Hall and Johnson Hall.

Thank God even though I’m not the only one who would like to take a shower at this late hour, there are enough showers and so I will not have to queue – such a foreign concept. As I stand under the pressure of the warm water from the shower I start organizing my thoughts on how I’m going to work on my assignment. After my shower, I sit at my desk and jot down the plans I’d laid down as I was in the shower. It has been four hours now and I’m three quarter way through my assignment. I feel I need a break and decide to take a walk to the lounge to clear my head. On reaching the lounge I find one of my close friends just about to leave to go into the TV room. I decide to go along with her, so as to check out the 11 O’clock news. After the news is over, I go back to my room. On finishing my assignment I dive into my bed. When my eyes close with my pillow snuggled close and the only thing I can see is the back of my eyelids I thank God I’d remembered to do my assignment on time. The only thing left to do now is to sle……e……p…………
