The programme will prepare the students with essential knowledge on teaching methodologies, tactics, and strategies for teaching at the various levels, enabling them to be effective professional teachers and classroom communicators.
The student will have general and specific knowledge in teachers’ preparations of teaching materials, lesson plans, unit outlines, and scheme of work, as well as various instructions in teaching techniques. Attention is given to the concepts of motivation, attention span, and stimuli variations for sustained class attention.
In addition to completion of the Bachelor of Education Early Childhood or Primary Education units, students may chose to take extra specialization in special needs to be able to handle children with special needs.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Primary Teacher I - PI holders will get up to one-year exemption depending on qualifications at O’level and at the PI level
Diploma in Education -Diploma holders (KNEC) with a credit will get up to two years exemption
- K.C.S.E -Mean Grade of C+
- K.C.S.E -Mean grade of C plain with a PI
- K.C.S.E -Mean grade of C- or D+ with a PI and Diploma(with credit)
- K.C.S.E -Mean grade of D+ or C-with KNEC certificate and Diploma.
Duration
All Bachelor's Programs are four years.
However,students with post high school qualifications who have attained a credit, will be given exemptions. Those with relevant diplomas and have attained a credit will receive up to 2 years worth of exemptions.
