Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries programme seeks to prepare men and women from a variety of Christian backgrounds for service in the Church by equipping them intellectually, socially and spiritually. The requirements for the course of study for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene on the Africa Region are also met. Each unit in this programme considers the four outcomes of Christian education: content, competence, character and context.

Course Duration

BTH at Africa Nazarene University takes 2 and half calendar years to complete the full coursework and internship. Our internship is done from the first day one joins our institution, to the day one graduates from our program.

The program has 48 units in total.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum KCSE aggregate C + (C plus) or ANU’s Pre-University Program B- (GPA of 2.7) AND demonstrate proficiency in English.  The applicant must have attained a C in the following subjects: Mathematics and English in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (K.C.S.E) or equivalent.

Mode of Study

Our Program is offered in three modes:

  • The course is offered for full-time day students at the Main Campus (Ongata Rongai).
  • School Based Program- that is during school holidays in Kenya
  • Distance Learning Program- if you cannot come to us, we bring our education in your office or living room, provided you have internet access.

Intakes

Traditional (daytime classes): January, May, September

Exemptions/Recognition of Prior Learning

Exemptions: Up to 23 units exemptions for those with diplomas in the area of study from a recognized university.

Transfer of Credits

We also accept students from other institutions who wish to transfer credits. Up to one academic year worth of units will transfer automatically. However a student who wished to challenge certain units, is welcome to do so.

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries – Community Development seeks to enable students in the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries degree programme at Africa Nazarene University to specialize in community development. There is a great need across Africa for persons who can envision, lead, organize and administer community development projects, reconciliation efforts, compassionate ministry endeavors, and social welfare and justice prgrammes; who can facilitate the social and economic
Urban and Youth Ministries
The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries – Urban and Youth Ministries track seeks to enable students in the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries degree programme at Africa Nazarene University to specialize in urban and youth-type ministries in order to more effectively prepare ministers to spread the Gospel particularly in an urban setting and especially with youth. Students learn how to better help the Church reach the lost, especially in the cities.
Biblical Studies
The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries – Biblical Studies track seeks to enable students in the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries degree programme at Africa Nazarene University to specialize in the study of the Bible in order to more effectively prepare ministers to preach and teach the Word of God. Students also learn both the language of the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Counseling
The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries - Counseling track seeks to enable students in the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries degree programme at Africa Nazarene University to specialize in pastoral counseling ministries in order to prepare ministers to guide and comfort people. Students learn how to help people in crisis. They learn leadership methods and study human development.
