The annual Africa Nazarene University career Fair took place last week at the Helstrom Students Centre at the Main Campus in Ongata Rongai. The career fair, which was themed ‘ Aligning career interest with personal abilities’ attracted a host of high schools , ANU students and corporate organizations.

While welcoming the students at this year’s Career Fair, Africa Nazarene University Vice Chancellor Prof. Leah Marangu reiterated the need for the students to network and use such opportunities to strike

relationships with future employers while understanding their skill set requirement.

Our guest speaker, the CEO and Chief Learning designer at Jobsmentor – Makena Ringera, challenged the young people to focus on their future by learning all they need to learn now while having the end in mind. She argued that, majority of young people do not know what they are passionate about and this makes them do jobs they are not interested in that is motivated by the pay check.  This trend produces employers who do not engage their talents, who are aloof and uninterested.

The highlight of the Career Fair was when students  had the chance to get career mentorship and guidance from the various Academic departments and corporate organizations that had pitched booths at the event.

We would like to applaud the Academic departments for the elaborate presentations and demonstrations that encapsulated the practical approach. We thank our participating partners,Kenya commercial Bank, VIVO Energy,Koola Waters, International School of Advertising, Chase Bank, and ACCA, Amnesty international, Equity Bank, Cooperative Bank and CIM, for ensuring that the event was a success.

What begins here, transforms the world.
